Join the Board

The Board at the Co-op is accountable to members by defining and upholding the mission and values for the Co-op. See below for the role of the board versus the role of management. The Board meets one time per month on the 3rd Tuesday at 6pm for 2 hours with email communication during the month.

Board of Directors

 

  • Is accountable to members, defining objections, policies and goals within the constraints of Mission and Values of the Co-op

  • Has fiduciary responsibility to protect the members’ assets

  • Provides the mission statement and values

  • Define the strategy, objectives, and goals

  • Ensures a meaningful linkage to the membership

  • Determines member benefits, policies for members, and goals

  • Plans for long term future by;

Determining the value and commitment of resources,

Assessing the consequences and limits of the co-op finances and vision

  • Evaluates management, setting performance standards and evaluating progress towards goals

  • Assures and plans for management and board succession

  • Determines structure, responsibility, behavior and performance evaluation of the BOD

  • Is a resource for members and represents the co-op in the community

Management

 

  • Is accountable to the Board, defining operating objectives, goals and policies within the constraints of the Board vision.

  • Acts to carry out and manage the Board’s vision

  • Participates in long term planning

  • Decides how objectives are achieved.

  • Sets operational policies, including personnel policies

  • Prepares budgets, business and marketing plans for board approval

  • Implements procedures to obtain goals and objectives.

  • Monitors, reports and recommends member benefits

  • Participates in setting of policies and standards

  • Provides board with information for monitoring policy and for decision making

  • Assures key personnel succession

  • Determines job responsibilities and performance standards and compensation for employed personnel within the Budget set by Board

  • Is a resource for the Board. Provides relevant up-to date information
