Poached Pears in Red Wine

Ingredients:
- 2 pears, D’anjou or Bosc -- still firm 
- 1 bottle red wine 
- ½ cup sugar 
- 2 sticks cinnamon 
- Lemon peels (half a medium lemon) 
Instructions:
- Heat wine, cinnamon sticks and lemon peels together in a small pot 
- Peel pears, cut in half and scoop out seeds 
- Place pears in boiling wine 
- Simmer until pears are soft (about 15-20 mins) 
- Remove pears, cinnamon sticks and lemon peels 
- Continue to simmer wine, reduce to half the amount and use as sauce over pears 
- Serve with ice cream, yogurt, or on its own!
